It all depends on what you’re looking for.
If you are looking to buy your first camera, you should try to find it from a reputable seller. I got my first camera from a KEH catalog for $70. It was in great condition and it was a great price. I also bought my Holga from them for $34, which I still think is too expensive for a cheap hunka plastic, but it’s a much better price than lomography has. You can also try other online stores like Ultrafine, Amazon, B&H, Unique Photo, eBay and other online camera shop or antique shop. Be careful when shopping on eBay though. Always read the sellers reviews and make sure you understand what you are buying and their return policy. Some of your local photo stores may also sell some newer film SLRs.
If you already have a functional film SLR and you’re just looking to add to your collection I suggest going to yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores. I have 48 cameras and at least half of them I bought for less than $5 at such places. I even found a perfectly working (Konica Autoreflex TC) 35mm SLR camera, with a working light meter, working battery, and even some old film in it for $5 at Good Will. Personally since I have bad Gear Acquisition Syndrome (also known as bad GAS, NYUCK NYUCK NYCUK) I check my Good Will on a weekly basis, and I always check my local newspaper for upcoming yard sales and flea markets. I suggest anyone interested in collecting cameras do this.
